Taha Jiwaji is an entrepreneur who believes that technology is the next frontier in enabling businesses to grow in Tanzania. Taha is the founder and CEO of Bongo Live!, a mobile technology and marketing company based in Dar es Salaam. Bongo Live! is Tanzania’s first opt-in based sms advertising service offering subscribers exclusive deals and advertisers targeted adverts. It also offers businesses sms services to help them stay in touch with customers quickly, cheaply and effectively. Taha plans to leverage Bongo Live!’s technology and expertise to improve service delivery from governments, businesses and NGOs to consumers in East Africa and beyond.

Taha attended Lafayette College in Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Economics & Business.  After graduating, Taha worked as a technology consultant with Capgemini in Los Angeles. He gained experience in translating business processes for Fortune 500 clients into implementable technical requirements. He also collaborated with global delivery teams in Europe and India.

Recently Taha spoke at the Mobile Monday Dar, The Harvard Africa Business Conference 2011, Burhani Business Expo, Pivot25 Nairobi and Mobile Money Summit – Dar es Salaam. He regularly blogs on Vijana FM on technology, entrepreneurship and education in Africa.
