CHRIS KIRUBI

Chairman, Capital Media Group

Mr. Chris Kirubi is a leading Kenyan entrepreneur who has vast investments in the Manufacturing, Property Management, Media, Insurance and Investment Sectors of our economy. He is an alumnus of INSEAD Institute in France, Handles University in Sweden and Harvard Business School, USA. He also has an honorary MBA degree from the Swiss Management Academy, Kenya.

He is Chairman of Haco Tiger Brands, the Capital Media Group, International House limited, and Smart Applications International Limited. He sits on the boards of various companies among them Centum Investments, UAP and Beverage Services of Kenya Limited.

He is widely known within the Digital Media frontier, for his campaign to embrace social and emerging marketing techniques to reach the Youth in Kenya. He serves as a founder member and Co-Chair of the Mobile Marketing Association, East Africa, which is the local council of the global Mobile Marketing Association (a premier global non-profit trade association representing all players in the mobile marketing value chain).

To support and promote enterprising youth in the arts (TV, Music and film) industry, Mr. Kirubi has been featured in several music videos and local movie productions both as an actor and producer (Leo & Formula ‘X’). He is now wearing a new hat as a Trustee of Kalasha Film & Television Awards (2011) whose mandate is to promote growth and excellence in the local TV & Industry locally.

Mr. Kirubi has been featured in several local and international publications, most notably in News African Magazine (100 Most Influential Africans – Business and Finance Category), Forbes Africa blog (20 Most Powerful People in African Business) and in Life Journeys: Scaling Heights, High Achieving Men in Kenya (Footprints Press).

In recognition of his exemplary contributions to positive change in society, he has received the following Awards: Elder of the Burning Spear of the Republic of Kenya (1999), the National Order of Merit medal – French Government (2004).
