Anne is the Founder and CEO of Afroes Transformational Games. Afroes is a social enterprise based in South Africa and Kenya uniquely positioned to unlock the leadership, citizenship and entrepreneurial potential of millions of young Africans through mobile game-based learning. Afroes partners with social development agencies, corporate enterprises and governments keen to spread information, public education and branded messages in a fun and innovative way via mobile.
Afroes’ award-winning games MORABA, HAKI and ChampChase have been designed in partnership with the social development agencies, corporates and governments including the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, UNWomen, Nokia and the ICT Board of Kenya. Afroes recently won awards from Netexplo 2012 in Paris, AppCircus 2011 in Cape Town, Mobile Premier Awards 2012 in Barcelona, World Youth Summit Awards 2012 in Montreal and the MEFFYs Award for Social Responsibility 2012 in London.
Anne also provides strategic advisory services focused on open social innovation and development policy to high-value development agencies working across Africa. Prior to establishing Afroes, Anne has been an International Development professional with over 20 years of social and economic development experience working with the United Nations and management consulting firms across Africa, Asia and the United States.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University, New York, a Masters degree in International Development from The American University, Washington DC and a post-graduate Certificate in Management Development from Jones International University in conjunction with the UNDP. Anne is a wife and mother of 3 teenagers.
