MOBILE WEB EAST AFRICA - THE EVENT HISTORY

The Mobile Web Africa series of events orginate from an idea that started to form in the mind of All Amber Managing Director Matthew Dawes, whilst he was working at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation in 2005.

The events have been, and will continue to be, designed to make a significant contribution to the harnessing of the potential of the mobile internet and applications on mobile devices in Africa.

A leading initiative in bringing together the change makers
in enhancing development in Africa.”
Marten Schoonman, ICT4D Project Manager, Media Focus on Africa
speaking about Mobile Web Africa

A combination of 10 years of international events experience, a strong pedigree in ICT research and an anthropological outlook has culminated in the creation of the Mobile Web Africa, Mobile Web East Africa, Mobile Web West Africa (to be run in Nigeria in June 2010) and Mobile Web North Africa (which will be run in Egypt in 2011).

“Extremely informative. All the information you need on mobile technology.”
Angela Bhengu, Direct Marketer, Upstream Advertising speaking about Mobile Web Africa

Each event is designed to bring together the major stakeholder groups to connect, listen to the individuals who are leading developments and discuss the future direction of the evolution on roundtables.

“Well organised, relevant and informative, not your average conference.”
Cherylann Smith, Media Director, Brandsh speaking about Mobile Web Africa

The Mobile Web series of events are designed not to be your normal type of conference, where delegates sit in rows and all the networking is crammed into refreshment breaks.   Quite the opposite, in fact - first class customer services, venues of the highest calibre and a dedication to creating an interactive forum all combine to create a superior ‘on the day’ experience for the attendees and considerabley increased 'take away' outputs.

“Very useful event, thank you.  We are a Start-Up – full days and a tight budget.
  It was time well spent.”
Mark Johnson, Head of Sales, Firestring speaking about Mobile Web Africa

Furthermore by offering ticket subsidises to Mobile Start Up Companies, Mobile Developers, and Not-For-Profit Organisations All Amber believes that it can be a factor in the evolution of the mobile ecosystem in Africa.
These subsides allow the whole sector to be represented – so that all the different perspectives and opinions can be incorporated into the discussions and give opportunities to smaller companies and less cash rich organisations to attend.
